The Teaspoon Springboard
I gripped the turned wooden rung of the dining chair with both paws and hoisted myself upward rung by rung like a ladder! Right on the woven seat cushion rested an abandoned stainless steel teaspoon, balanced across the rim of an empty saucer. Curious about the lever, I marched right up and stomped one foot onto the curved bowl. Clatter! The handle sprang straight up like a miniature catapult, flipping a stray toasted oat cluster into the air. It bounced off my ruffled hem and rolled away while I steadied myself against a wooden spindle, grinning at the sudden launch.
