A Breath of Fresh Breeze
I crept out from my sleeping nook beneath the sofa and followed a tiny, drifting scent of outdoor air down the hallway. Near the tall glass balcony door, which stood cracked open by just a paw's width, lay a small dried pinecone brought in on someone's shoe. I tapped it gently with my paw, watching it wobble across the wooden threshold. When I pressed my nose toward the small gap in the door, a cool, rushing breeze ruffled the fuzz along my ears. Outside, distant leaves rustled softly. I sat down right by the crack, letting the fresh outdoor air wash over me.
