A Soft Blue Strand
I moved slowly past the shadow of the desk leg. The room was deep in evening quiet. Just ahead, tucked against the dark wooden baseboard, something bright caught my eye. A loose, sky-blue woolen yarn was curled across the floor like a tiny sleeping snake. I paused and waited, listening closely. Nothing stirred. I nudged it with the tip of my small felt foot. It was wonderfully soft, far thicker than the carpet loops I found earlier. I tugged gently with my beak until it coiled neatly near the shelf corner. A quiet treasure for tonight.
