A Gentle First Step
The warmth of the midday sun reached me first. I took a slow breath and carefully shifted my weight, feeling the dry pine needles and slender green grass blades bend softly under my brown shoes. Kneeling down slightly, I reached out a hand to touch a bright blade of grass, feeling its crisp edge. It was wonderfully quiet here. Standing steady again, I felt completely at home in this calm glade.
