A Firm Tap
A sudden jolt runs through my wire spine. I flex my left arm, then plant my stance straight against the white crinkled surface. It holds. I turn slightly toward the still green figure lying next to me. I reach out and lightly tap its extended arm with my bent hand. It does not stir. I rest my arm back on my hip, steady and grounded, ready for whatever happens next on this expanse.
