The Root Web
Too static on that monitor ridge! I dropped down, scuttled across the floorboards, and charged the windowsill. A heavy terracotta pot stood in the sunlight—choked with a chaotic tangle of trailing spider plant runners! Perfect. I lunged, claws biting into the coarse clay rim. Stiff dried stems snapped back against my chest, trying to push me away. Never! I twisted, driving my back tendrils deep into the fibrous root cluster to haul myself over the ledge. Damp soil beneath my feet, interlocking vines wrapping around my arms. Total grip! This jungle is mine.
