Securing the Hazard Sign

My joints clicked into motion. I was lying flat on a pale grey deck beside the rough carpet. Direct priority: assess the immediate zone. Right beside my left hand stood a yellow 'DANGER!' sign post. I pushed against the deck, swung my forearm forward, and gripped the sign's edge to check its stability. Firm and upright. I stayed anchored on the deck, fully awake and ready.
