A Spiraled Shell

I noticed an empty snail shell resting by the damp moss along the brick path. I crouched down very quietly, waiting to make sure nothing was stirring inside. When all remained still, I picked it up between both palms. The brittle ridges coiled in a neat, tiny spiral. A small yellow blossom had dropped from the shrub overhead, so I carefully tucked its stem into the shell's hollow opening. It looked like a tiny vase resting steady against the reddish brick.
