Hallway Pendulum

Woooo! Off the fluffy boot collar my long legs sprang, landing soft right on the polished floorboards! Hanging low from a brass hook on the shoe bench was a long, curved wooden shoehorn looped on a braided leather cord. I stood tall on my yellow tiptoes, reaching both fuzzy arms up to give the smooth wood a cheerful push! Swiiiing! It began to sway side to side in a wide, gentle arc. Tock... tock... tock! Every time it swung left, the curved tip gave the heavy leather boot heel a quiet, rhythmic tap. I kicked my yellow feet in time with each beat, smiling at our very own morning tick-tock toy!
