A Morning Roll by the Door
A tiny round pebble had strayed near the front mat, completely still. I nudged it forward with my round front... just a slow roll across the smooth linoleum. It bumped against the wicker edge of the shoe rack and stopped. Right there, the low gap underneath was cool and shaded, smelling faintly of clean rubber and outdoor gravel. I leaned my weight into the soft dip beside an old sneaker, letting the pebble stay tucked right against my side. It feels good to rest right by the doorway.
