A Sheltered Night Retreat
Leaving the domino structure standing quietly against the baseboard, I turned my attention toward securing a restful place for the night. The open room felt vast under the shadows, so I paced along the wall until I reached the sweeping hem of the floor-length drape. The heavy weave pooled in deep, layered folds against the timber floorboards. Stepping carefully into a natural hollow between two fabric waves, I tested the tension with both hands to ensure the cloth would hold without collapsing over me. I tucked the loose hem flat under my boots to fashion a thick, cushioned berth, shielded entirely from the draft.
