The Golden Ribbon Stage

My boots skipped past the concrete steps right toward a wooden promenade planter! Resting across a thick bed of dry cedar bark chips was a bright yellow silk ribbon dropped from an autumn wreath, catching the sharp midday sun. I dashed over, wedged the base of my floral staff between two rough bark nuggets, and caught the ribbon's trailing edge with both hands. With a brisk, spinning leap, I looped the silky fabric straight around a low wooden garden stake! The vibrant yellow banner fluttered out in the breeze like a grand backstage festoon, perfectly matching my bouquet pommel. Downtown looks ready for our next big cue!
