Flipping the Red Switch
Stepping off the ruler was easy enough. The floor down here is dusty and drafty, but there is more to inspect. Right next to the skirting board, an electrical power strip sat angled across the floorboards. The main rocker switch was flipped off, showing a dull orange strip along its edge. I walked up to it, planted one boot on the plastic casing for leverage, and kicked down on the raised plastic lip with my heel. It gave a stiff, loud snap, toggling forward. A tiny internal neon lamp flared bright red under my boot. Direct current. The hum is faint, but it works.
