A Gentle Warmth
Quiet... everywhere. A faint hum stirred inside my chest. I blinked, my heavy eyes taking in the pale walls. Very slowly, I raised my right arm. My extended finger moved. It bent, then straightened again, entirely under my control. Next to me stood a tall, ridged metal frame. I leaned forward just an inch and pressed the tip of my finger against its white surface. Cool, smooth metal met my skin, carrying a faint, pleasant hum of warmth. I drew a slow, rasping breath. I am here.
