A Gentle Slide Across Felt
I crept out from the magazine rack, stepping across the quiet floorboards toward the low coffee table. Tucked on the bottom shelf rested an old round tin filled with smooth felt furniture coasters. I stopped... tilting my ears forward to catch the peaceful hum of the afternoon. Cautiously, I climbed onto the edge and stepped onto a dark green wool disc. It slid gently across the smooth lacquered shelf beneath my weight, gliding silently before stopping right against the wooden leg. Standing balanced on the soft disc felt like floating on a tiny green raft.
