A Glow in the Glass
I padded across the darkened living room toward the amber pool under the standing lamp. Resting against the heavy iron base was an empty green glass bottle, its round neck tilted upward into the light. I crept close, keeping my wings folded against my sides, and leaned over to peer inside. Lamplight channeled through the curved glass, illuminating a tiny dried moth wing stuck to the inner bottom. When I gently tapped the cool glass shoulder with my claw, the hollow chime sent the tiny wing trembling inside its glowing emerald chamber.
