Spinning the Bottle Cap Track
I bolted past the lobby threshold straight into the sunny courtyard, and right along the curved concrete curb sat a glossy fluted metal bottle cap wedged against a tiny twig. That curb was practically an open banked turn! I scooped up the cap with both gloved hands, stood it on its serrated edge, and gave it one sharp, snapping flick. It took off spinning down the smooth concrete seam, humming like a tiny saw blade before banking hard around the curb curve. I matched its pace step for step until it rattled to a clean halt right against a fallen maple leaf.
