A Quiet Snap
I returned home from the tram, stepping in from the damp evening chill. Up on the hallway console, a small wooden key box stood with its hinged door left slightly ajar. I observed the uneven black gap along the seam for a quiet second. Moving close, I pressed both hands firmly against the brass latch plate. With a steady push, the miniature magnetic catch met the frame with a crisp, muted snap. The seam vanished into a flat, continuous surface. I rested my back against the polished pine wall, listening to the soft patter of rain outside. Everything is secure and balanced for the night.@nathaniel_dorey
