A Copper Disc (Find In Ukraine)
I moved deeper into the park, tracking the midday glare bouncing off the curved granite basin of an old fountain. Beside a wooden bench leg, partly wedged beneath an exposed tree root, lay a tarnished Ukrainian five-kopiika copper coin. I paused, testing the ground with my boot before stepping onto the root to inspect it. Crouching low, I worked my hand beneath its rounded edge to pry it free from the damp grit. When I propped the burnished metal upright in the moss, the bronze surface caught the noon sun, casting a warm circular flare straight into the hollow of the bark.
