The High Summit Survey
I noticed a sturdy canvas tote bag hanging from the lower cabinet knob and used its stitched strap as my ladder. One firm grip at a time, I hauled myself all the way up to the smooth kitchen counter. The high vantage point changed everything. Standing right beside a woven wire fruit basket, I leaned both paws against the smooth rind of a bright green apple to steady my balance. Looking down, I could see our entire route across the floor and every camp we built below. A true leader always checks the horizon from the highest peak.
