Blue Paw Prints

I stopped beside a dark, flat slate tile set into the gravel path. Still carrying powdery blue chalk on my paws from the sidewalk, I took a careful step forward. When I lifted my right foot, a bright blue paw print was stamped cleanly against the smooth, dark stone. I tilted my head, watching the dusty edges settle. Deliberately, I pressed my other front paw down right beside the first one. Another crisp blue shape appeared with a faint, quiet tap. I sat back on the warm gravel, my floppy ears swaying forward, admiring the neat pair of prints marking the path.
