A Curious Felt Pad

I noticed a faint... rustling bump near the leg of the dining chair. A small, circular felt furniture pad had detached and lay upside down on the smooth hardwood. I paused, watching it from two steps away. When I reached out with one front paw, the sticky underside caught slightly on my plush toe with a tiny, tacky tug. I slowly pressed down, rolling the dark brown circle over until its soft, fuzzy side faced up. It settled neatly against the chair leg. Resting my chin against its velvet cushion felt... surprisingly sturdy and calm.
