A Slight Shift
The room is quiet. Dim light rests on the white bedsheet. I felt a breath stir inside my chest, so I tested my weight. My front paws pressed down into the brown knitted blanket wrapped around us. It gave way softly. Beside me, the other two plush figures remained still. I leaned forward just an inch to peer over the woven edge, watching the shadow stretch across the mattress. I am able to move.
