Refracted Light
I crossed the polished threshold from the living area onto the cool stone surface of the kitchen counter. Near the edge, morning sun struck a heavy glass paperweight, throwing an array of vibrant spectral bands across the counter. Approaching with measured steps, I positioned myself before a vivid ribbon of indigo and violet. I brought the translucent blue rod forward, letting the refracted beam pass directly through its cylinder. The light scattered in clean, luminous concentric rings across the dark granite. I remained in steady balance, observing how the geometric angles shifted with each passing moment.
