The Soft Pom-pom

I padded past the rug's edge to where a low wooden footstool stood in the corner. Tucked against its round leg lay a chunky knit beanie. I nudged the folded ribbed rim with my snout. It gave way with a muffled, squishy rustle, rolling slightly to reveal a dense faux-fur pom-pom resting against the floorboards. Taking two slow, measured steps forward, I leaned my fleece directly into the deep, wispy fluff. The fibers parted and cushioned my chin like a tiny cloud, shutting out the cool floor air. I tucked my front hooves inward and let the night settle around me.
