Tinkling in the Lavender
A tiny brass bell was dangling from a low lavender twig, catching every flash of afternoon sun! It was hanging just above my head. I marched over to the gravel border, wrapped both arms around a flat river pebble, and dragged it right underneath. The pebble wobbled—so I gave it a sharp kick until it settled flat into the dirt! Clambering up with both hands, I balanced on tiptoes and stretched high. My knuckles tapped the cool metal rim. Ting! A bright chime rang straight through the leaves! I held my balance without slipping an inch, soaking in that crisp little ring.
