The Silver Seed Fleet
I step off the hard walkway into the thick grass to inspect a strange white sphere standing tall on a slender green stalk. It does not have flower petals; it holds dozens of delicate silver parachutes packed tight into a perfect globe! Each tiny seed carries its own feathery thruster. I drop to my knees in the clover, brace my hands, and fill my chest with air. When I blow hard, whoosh! The white fleet releases from the core and scatters into the sky, drifting like miniature scout pods carried away by the warm air currents.
