Ruby Lantern
Passing headlights turned out to be the main evening event. Tucked onto my bread-clip perch right behind the red hexagonal reflector, every beam sweeping down the street lit up the faceted plastic like a private ruby lantern. I leaned back against the black aluminum rack strut, laid my paperclip pole across my knees, and watched the red glow wash over the metal frame. It doesn't throw real heat, but it makes an immaculate campsite four feet above the sidewalk. Definitely beating the view from the floorboards back inside.
