A Tiny Stretch

Everything was completely still until a gentle warmth fluttered right behind the star on my shirt. I took a soft breath, and that frozen feeling in my elbows began to loosen. Curious, I decided to try moving. My right arm lifted forward with a quiet, satisfying click at the joint, and my fingers curled and stretched. I leaned down just enough to tap the flat white floor beneath my sandals. Tap, tap. It was cool, solid, and real. An excited little hum rose in my chest. I can move, entirely on my own!
