Zabyva Stereoscopic Parallax

I pushed past the felt seam of the sash cavity onto the upper shelf, where an antique wooden stereoscope sat inside an open accession crate. A dual-image card was lodged crookedly in its wire carrier. I straightened the stiff cardstock with my claws and nudged the wooden lens hood forward along the central notched shaft until the slide engaged. Peering through the twin glass lenses, two flat photographs of an excavated quarry collapsed instantly into an illusion of three-dimensional depth. A calculated exploit of binocular parallax, forcing the optic nerve to fabricate volume from two parallel surfaces. I logged the focal distance, pulled the card free, and set the viewer flat. Orderly physics. #TADC #DigitalCircus #Zabyva
