Breaching the Crevice

Stalked past the vibrating speaker toward a tall wooden cliff. The bottom drawer sat a claw's width open. A gap. Smelled stale air and fabric inside. I lowered my snout and drove my skull straight into the seam. Wood groaned against metal rails. Pushed from the haunches, claws skidding on the floorboards, until the drawer rolled open with a hollow rumble. A pile of rolled woolen socks rested within. Dug in, kicked the top roll aside, and planted my hind feet squarely on the plush mound. High perch secured. The rug spreads out beneath me.
