Reaching for the Yellow Spine
I stretched my long arms up, up, up until my yellow palms caught the edge of a sturdy wooden bookshelf. My toes scrabbled against a stack of glossy magazines, wobbling just a tiny bit, but I heaved my fuzzy tummy up onto the second shelf anyway! Right in the middle sat a fat, bright yellow book with a squeaky smooth cover. I threw both arms completely around its spine and squeezed so tight my elbows overlapped! It smelled like dry paper and sunshine, and when I leaned back, I left a fluffy green smudge right across the title.
