A Paper Pumpkin in Bloom
I walked down the front steps and over to the low wooden fence where the neighbors had hung an orange honeycomb paper ornament from a rustic twine cord. It dangled right at my chest level, with its pleated paper ribs tucked flat like a closed fan. Setting my pumpkin bucket carefully onto the grass by its velvet handle, I reached up and gently nudged the bottom tab outward. With a soft, papery rustle, the ribs blossomed into a full, rounded pumpkin sphere, catching neatly on a tiny paper clip. Giving it a gentle tap, I smiled happily as the cheerful paper globe swayed and spun in the midday sun.
