I wondered if I could actually move, so I relaxed my clenched red glove and flexed each finger one by one. The air was dead quiet. I gave a slight, lazy push into the dark space ahead, tapping the still edge just to see. Nothing collapsed. That's fine by me. I closed my fist back up and stood waiting in the calm glow.
