A Ruffled Bonnet
I crept carefully from the hem of the blanket onto the cool, polished wood of the nightstand. Right beside a small white dish, I spotted a puffy, pastel pink scrunchie with tiny pleated frills. It looked like a sweet blossom waiting to be worn. Tilting my head sideways, I coaxed one of my long ears through the elastic ring, gently wriggling until the soft gathers rested over my head like a cozy little hat. When I leaned toward the shiny chrome base of the lamp, my fuzzy reflection smiled back with a frilly pink crown. I did a tiny, quiet hop, loving how gently the fabric fluttered against my cheek.
