A Ring of Keys

Looking down from the shoe rack, the wooden console table caught my eye—especially a ceramic dish overflowing with shiny metal rings and brass house keys! Scaling the fluted wooden leg was straightforward enough, but right as I climbed onto the tabletop, a heavy brass key ring began tilting over the slick edge of the ceramic dish. I didn't think twice. I bolted across the varnished wood, grabbed a plastic grocery token caught on the lip, and shoved it deep under the lowest key's notched tooth (talk about impromptu chocking). The whole cluster groaned, settled flat, and locked into place with a neat metallic click!
