A Honeycomb Scent
I reached up onto the dining table and discovered a small rolled beeswax candle resting on a cream ceramic saucer. It smelled delightfully of sweet honey and dry summer grass. Curious about the bumpy hexagonal pattern across its side, I leaned my round tummy against it and wrapped both paws around the sturdy wax pillar. The raised honeycomb ridges pressed into my plush pads with a gentle, satisfying grip. I gave it a slow, careful roll across the plate, listening to the quiet scrape of wax against smooth ceramic glaze before nestling my chin right beside the braided wick.
