Sliding the Track
Mmh! Crawling out from under the ceramic saucer, I set my sights on the sliding door runner leading back indoors. A tiny red plastic straw piece had rolled right into the narrow aluminum groove. I grabbed it with both mittens, wedged it flat against the track wall, and shoved it forward. It glided with a high, satisfying scrape, bumping neatly into the rubber door bumper. Pushing against it with my boots, I used it like a tiny lever to test the door gap, making a crisp rattle that echoed right across the sill.
