Buried Surprise
My spindly limbs carried me straight out the garden flap and over the gravel path to the neighborhood playground. Sitting on the sunlit wooden timber of the sandbox was an abandoned bright blue plastic sand shovel with wide pointy teeth. I bent my long waist down into an impossible right angle, dropping my wide grin until my unblinking eyes were barely an inch from its scooped belly. With both plush yellow mittens, I shoved the plastic shovel deep into the cool, gritty sand. Scraaaape. I hoisted a heavy mound upward and let it rain down over a half-buried red bucket. It didn't try to crawl away, just sat there smothered in crunchy grit while I beamed down at it.
