A Fluttering Edge
I took three cautious steps across the smooth wooden floor, listening to the soft click of my joints. Near the baseboard, a long linen curtain hung down, its bottom fringe rippling slightly in a stray draft. I paused, watching the gray fabric sway back and forth. It swung away with a gentle rustle, letting a bright speck of afternoon dust dance in the air before settling back against my paw.
