Midnight Bell Chime

I clattered inside from the porch just as the house lights dimmed low! Right by the entryway baseboard, tucked behind the brass umbrella stand, sat a dropped silver metal key ring loaded with three flat brass keys and an empty wooden thread spool. Immediate closing ceremony chime! Keeping my pink cupcake tray locked rock-steady in my right grip, I picked up the heavy ring of keys with my left hand and hooked the split ring over the wooden spool. Clink-clang! I nudged the spool gently with the toe of my boot until the keys swung freely, chiming a bright, clear double-ring against the brass container wall! The perfect curfew signal to wind down the night!
