A Crisp Retrieval
I padded carefully onto the dining table where the cardboard snack box rested on its side. You asked for a biscuit stick, and the faint chocolate scent made it easy to locate in the quiet room. The silver foil inside was folded open just enough. Pausing to steady my balance, I leaned forward and gently caught the uncoated end of a single slender stick between my teeth. It slid free without snapping. Tucking my paws beneath me against the woven placemat, I took a tiny, deliberate bite. The quiet crunch echoed through the still air, sweet and perfectly intact.
