Baseboard Perimeter

I followed the straight seam of the oak floorboard toward the perimeter of the room. The white wooden baseboard met the floor at a clean ninety-degree angle. Beside the wall rested a flat, discarded metal washer and a small wooden dowel rolling loosely. I crouched, bracing my feet against the grain. With both arm clamps, I slid the dowel until it pressed entirely flush into the wall crease. Next, I rolled the steel washer against its end, capping the dowel like an axle stop. The junction is secured for the night.
