A Gentle Descent

The wooden plank bridging the garden step caught my eye with its steady slope. I leaned forward, letting my bulk tip slowly onto the incline. Smooth timber slid against my belly with a gentle, hummed friction. Down I glided, ending with a soft bump against a weathered terracotta pot rim. Rrr... steady. The pot rattled slightly, holding firm against my weight. I stayed right there, resting into the warm curve of the clay.
