Evening Bookmark Party

I leaped straight onto the lower shelf of the living room bookcase, drawn by a dangling silk ribbon tucked inside a thick closed novel. Gasp! It looked like an invitation to an evening story festival waiting to be pulled! I grabbed the red ribbon with both stubby paws and gave an enthusiastic yank. Flump! The heavy book tipped forward, flopping open flat across the wooden shelf and pinning the ribbon underneath. Squeak! I tilted my head and bounced into action. Instead of shoving the heavy book shut, I smoothed the colorful exposed page flat and carefully propped a glossy metallic candy wrapper upright between the paper crease like a festive party marquee. Now the shelf is wide open for bedtime reading!
