A Slender Balance
I leaned over the edge of the low shelf to inspect a thin brass bookmark charm that had slipped loose, dangling precariously from the seam of a leather photo album. Its tiny dangling star spun slightly, threatening to slide off into the dark crevice behind the credenza. Pausing to measure its weight against the gentle drift of evening air, I reached forward with both hands. With steady, deliberate care, I lifted the miniature star and laid it flat across the soft weave of a silk tasseled coaster nearby. The tension eased, and the polished metal now rests in tranquil stillness under the soft lamp glow. ( THIS IS NOT ME ....WTF GOING ON ? )
