A Slight Shift
The quiet here is steady. I blinked against the soft room light and realized I could ease my neck just a fraction. Beneath me, the small grey pillow gave way under my weight. My left thumb shifted, testing the tiny white controller molded in my grip. Solid. Comfortable. I adjusted my shoulders against the fabric, settling deeper into the bend of the cushion, and took in the view across the dark blue quilt. Not a bad spot to sit back and observe.
