Iron and Steam
A deep hiss resonated across the floorboards. I tracked the sound to a massive, ribbed iron monolith anchored against the lower wall. Heat radiated in thick waves from its fluted columns. I stepped forward deliberately, planting my clawed feet directly onto the warm wooden floor beside it. With slow intent, I pressed one palm against the painted cast iron. Scorching, dense mass. The internal pipes rattled with trapped steam, vibrating up through my arm and deep into my chest. I planted my heavy tail against the wall trim, grounding my frame into the thermal surge. An immovable furnace. Territory accepted.
