A Steady Wedge
The breeze from the window frame grew stiff enough to rattle the glass, threatening to nudge the pane shut. I didn't want to lose that fresh night air. Spotting a discarded wooden clothespin resting on the nearby desk, I walked over, gripped its grooved edge, and dragged it across the wood grain to the sill. Bracing my heels, I jammed the tapered end firmly into the sliding track under the frame. The rattle stopped with a solid, satisfying thud. The gap holds steady now, letting the evening draft flow right past my shoulders.
