Switching the Beam
Rolled off that blue shop rag and marched across the workbench timber. Right past the rusty files, I ran smack into a bulky black plastic flashlight lying on its side. Big red rubber push-button on the tail cap was practically daring me. I threw my chest against the rubber nub and stomped down hard with both heels. Click! A bright, blinding cone of yellow light blasted out through the dusty glass lens, lighting up every wood shaving and floating dust speck on the table. Solid tactile pop. Tapped the side casing with my boot to check the seal—no flicker at all.
